We’re back with another week for comic book reading! It was pretty fun sharing with you all about what mags I was reading throughout the week, so I have to do it again! On the last one, I read The Vision and the Scarlet Witch #1 Vol 2, Moon Knight #7 & #8 Vol 9, The Amazing Spider-Man #531 & #532 Vol 1, and Thor #21 Vol 6. Will any of those titles pop up again or will we have some new ones?
First on the list…
Silk #1 (Jan 2022) & #2 (Feb 2022) Vol 4
I’ve been a fan of Silk for a while now. Something about her caught my eyes, plus she’s part of the spidey family! I read Silk Vol 3 last year. A five-issue limited series published in 2021. I thoroughly enjoyed it, so I decided to pick up her new run. These two issues dealt with Cindy Moon/Silk's rise in popularity. As people grew to love her, she still didn't know where she stood in the world. Social media was also important! Cindy is not old, but she feels like an old soul. After saving a social media influencer in the day, the same influencer was taken by an ancient Korean witch at night. The influencer was found old by Silk. She needed answers! But as Cindy, she went on a date with Ivaan to a Luna Snow concert. She does need a social life. At the show, the Korean witch’s henchmen attacked Luna. Silk went to help, and both women took them on gracefully. The Korean witch was after Luna's powers, but Silk caught her attention. Looks like Silk is about to have a fun time in the next issue! I want to give a shoutout to Takeshi Miyazawa, the artwork is lovely!
THOR #22 (Feb 2022) Vol 6
Oh, yeah, you already knew Thor was going to be on here! God of Hammers continued. This issue was part 4 of 5, so close to the grand finale of this storyline. After the God of Hammers summoned Mangog, Thor’s chances of ending the confrontation were very low. But a surprise awaited the King of Asgard. It felt like the whole Marvel universe was called upon by Beta Ray Bill! I mean... Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, Wolverine, the Fantastic Four, Captain America, Spider-Man, Iron Man, and many more showed up. Sheesh, it was a boatload! Were they enough, though? No. The God of Hammers was too much for all of them. In the end, she was after Thor. Odin knew of his mistakes, so he had no choice to give the full Odin-Force to his boy. A damn good ending for Odin, in my opinion! Thor was looking badass with the Odin-Force! Part 5 is about to be a dazzling showdown. I can’t wait!
Moon Knight #9 (Mar 2022) Vol 9
Another returning title! In the last issue, we didn’t see Moon Knight. So, what has he been up to? He was still looking for Zodiac, but he didn't know Zodiac confronted his therapist Dr. Andrea Sterman! Moon Knight took a mission about people gone missing. It was unusual because of the sixth floor in a building that shouldn't exist. It was where all the people would go missing. It turned out the sixth floor was a living environment, and it wanted Moon Knight. But it couldn’t handle him! Back at Dr. Andrea’s office, she let Moon Knight know she didn’t report Marc’s absence to the Avengers. She also notified him that they were tracking movement more than he knew. Moonknight went to Wong for a favor. He wanted some insight on Esoteric Real Estate. Moonknight went back to the sixth floor, who identified as the House of Shadows and purposed an offer. The House of Shadows became a new member and served as the new headquarters of the Midnight Mission. He showed Reese and Soldier the building, but a man observed them. Terrorist Rutherford Winner looked to be hunting down Marc. Here’s to another one on the list!
X-Men #1 (Oct 1991) Vol 2
So, I have been trying to get into X-Men, but I didn’t know where to begin. I have some issues of Avengers vs. X-Men and read through a few. Although I will finish that series, I wanted a solo X-Men run. I had heard that Vol 2 was significant and a brilliant change for X-Men and mutants as a whole in Marvel Comics. I have the first two issues, so I’m hoping to collect more of that title! I felt like the first issue was mainly focused on Magento. I’ve been a big fan of his from the movies. I already enjoyed this mag because of him. In the beginning, the X-Men were split into two teams to test the building defenses of Xavier’s school for the gifted. A crew of mutants fought Magneto on Asteroid M but ultimately wanted his guidance. They looked up to him. One of the teams from the X-Men went to confront Magento because he raised a nuclear submarine. Rogue tried to reason with him, but they were shot down. Rogue was found in Genosha. The loyal group of Magneto, known as the Acolytes, wanted her to join them. She wasn’t having it and fought them. The X-Men arrived to aid her as well. Magneto showed up and proclaimed Asteroid M as a haven for all mutants. No matter the side they were on. He had seen too many of his own hunted, and if one is hunted, he was hunted. They are the same in his eyes. Whew, that was a big one!
