So, it’s been a while since I posted a newsletter. I know. I know. I am a bit behind with Ms. Marvel but don’t worry, it is coming tomorrow. I was on vacation last week, and I thought I would have all the time to type two newsletters, which wasn’t the case at all. It felt like I had no time with all the activities we did throughout the day. That said, Ms. Marvel's episode 4 will be published with a small discussion about episode 3. I don’t want you to think Ms. Marvel is equivalent to the What If…? series because I stopped talking about it. Ms. Marvel is 10 times better than What If…? I just haven’t found the time recently. I am a bit in a slump in life right now, but I am trying to get back into my mojo. In terms of comic books, I read quite a few comics on the ride to Florida. I read about 18 comics, but the main ones we will talk about are Silk and Thor. So, let’s get into it, comic comrades!
Silk #5 (May 2022) Vol 4
In the past issues, Silk has been through it. Mentally and physically. Will she be able to stop the 400-year-old Korean witch? Silk stood head to head with the witch at the museum. The problem was Silk was still an old woman with powers basically gone. She knew she couldn’t have beaten the witch, but she had to try. If she learned anything in the past few days, it was her meaning in life. She is Silk. She will always be Silk. It is her purpose, now and forever. She told that to the witch. It was a way to distract the witch for enough time to steal her necklace. The necklace was where she contained her power. Once Silk destroyed it, everything let loose. Silk had her powers back! In no time, Silk put the witch in her place. With superior fashion, I might add. I'll say it was so weird seeing Jameson cheer on Silk as she fought the witch. I guess I’m used to the aggressive and rude JJJ. I mean, he is still aggressive but in a more likable way. To be honest, it was great to see. Everything felt back to normal. The influencers got their lives back. Ivaan gave Silk another chance. Life was looking good for our girl, Cindy Moon. The first five issues of this new run was about Cindy looking for herself. But she knew what she wanted to be. Silk! Whatever you are looking for could be right in front of you. You just have to take your time. I’m very excited to see what Silk gets up to in the next installment!
Thor #25 (May 2022) Vol 6
The Hulk and Thor rivalry continue in part two of Hulk v.s. Thor: Banner of War! At Avengers Mountain, Iron Man talked to the group about Hulk and his whereabouts. He told the group his intentions as well. He wanted to go fight Hulk. Oof. In the Starship Hulk command deck, Odin tried to reason with Banner. Bruce held his own against Odin for a short second, then bam! Everything went black. Banner brought Odin to the bar in El Paso. He told Odin about that night. The night when his rage transferred to others. He tried to stop it, but he went berserk. I’m talking about he brutally murdered so many people. He knew what he was doing because he attempted to stop himself. His body wouldn’t allow it, though. It’s a hard thing to justify. He didn’t have control, so I can’t blame him entirely. Bruce had to escape from this. Odin was confused about one thing. How was Bruce able to build everything around him? It seemed like a great deal of magic was involved. Bruce was about to explain it, but Thor interfered. Things were about to get worse. Iron Man showed up in the most immense armor I have ever seen, Jesus. I guess that’s what you need to fight the Hulk, amirite? This rivalry will continue in Hulk #7!
A big mix of Spider-Man, Spider-Man, and Spider-Man
Oh gosh, I read a lot of spidey this week. I finished the Sinister Six arc from The Amazing Spider-Man. And I read about 10 issues out of 14 of the Maximum Carnage storyline. You know I don’t talk about Spider-Man like I do the rest of the comics because I read a lot of them. So this will only be about my feelings towards these mags. Did I enjoy it, though? Yes and no. One of the things I hated from the Sinister Six arc was Peter Parker’s art style. Anything Peter was on a panel, he had a baby face. It was so annoying to see because he was in college. He shouldn’t look that young and bad at this point in time. The story itself was interesting. I thought Doc Ock was the right villain to orchestrate the whole plan. Other villains were Mysterio, Sandman, Hobgoblin, Electro, and Vulture. The last time we saw the Sinister Six was in The Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1, but Kraven was in it instead of Hobgoblin. I thought it was a better idea to have all villains face Spidey at once. The last one had them fight separately the whole time. I mean, overall it was a fine story. Nothing special to me. I haven’t read all the Maximum Carnage storyline, so I can’t give my full opinion on it. I can say I’ve enjoyed it more than the Sinister Six arc. I love Carnage. I think he is an amazing brutal character. He is a psychopath with no control. It’s awesome to see on the panel. There are a bunch of characters in this storyline. Sometimes there are characters who don’t feel right in the story, but this isn’t the case. It is still a Spider-Man comic at its core, though. There were issues from Spider-Man Unlimited, Web of Spider-Man, Amazing Spider-Man, Spider-Man, and Spectatular Spider-Man. One of the best things about these storylines is seeing different writers and artists take on Spider-Man. I’m excited to see where the story concludes.
Hello there! I’m happy you took the time out of your day to read my post. Remember, if you have any questions or want to have a discussion, leave a comment! The following newsletter will be on Ms. Marvel's 4th episode with some of episode three. Stay tuned! Happy days and take care!
