(Spoiler Warning!!)
This is super late, and I apologize for that. Thank you for reading either way, though.
Marvel made a great decision bringing in Florence Pugh as Yelena in this series. She was killing it in the last episode. The Blip and the table talk with Kate showed so much range; all her scenes were so good. Kate’s heroic journey was satisfying to witness. She always wanted to be a hero, but there was a little spark missing. Clint decided he had to end his problems with Maya. Before doing that, his talk with Nat was special. She has been a main character since the beginning of this series. I’m glad we got more of how Clint dealt with her death. Ronin came out and took care of the Tracksuit bros. The fight with Maya was well choreographed. She learned there was an informant the night her father died, which everything pointed fingers at Kazi. She’ll be going after Kingpin. It all comes down to this, the finale of Hawkeye!
There isn’t any time to waste. The man himself, Kingpin, walked into the room with Eleanor. Oh, and his purple pants with his cane? Sweet Jesus, my eyes are in love, haha. Eleanor told him she had to get out of the game, but Fisk didn’t want that. Why would she leave now when she caused so much damage? She needs to live up to what she has done. You can’t just wake up one day and choose who you want to be. Kate couldn't believe her eyes as she saw her mother in the same room as Kingpin. Clint ensured her everything would be fine since they were partners. They would get it done together. Maya came to visit Uncle, and the tension was strong. Fisk was playing along so well. His words meant nothing and something at the same time. Maya’s father wasn’t important to him like she was to him. Maya asked for days off, so she could process everything. She gots something else in mind, though. At this moment, when Kingpin took up most of the shot, Kazi’s distress showed how terrifying Kingpin was. Kate and Clint worked together fixing new trick arrows, let’s go! It was really cool. But I found the moment Kate told Clint about 2012 very sweet. He needed to hear that. Everything was in place for the grand finale. How will it go down?
At the Christmas party, Clint taught Kate how to eye everyone in the room. The mentor isn’t done just yet. I still can’t believe the LARPs went on to be important characters in the show. Kate and Clint were on the lookout for Eleanor but saw Jack instead. Why would the man literally bring a big ass sword to a party? Because the plot needed it! Ms. Yelena Belova also decided to show up to the party looking fierce. Eleanor finally arrived, but Kate took her aside quickly to confront her. I felt like Eleanor mostly talked without meaning. She couldn’t come up with good excuses for her actions. Andddd then everything went down. Kazi took some shots at Hawkeye but missed. Everyone scattered everywhere. Kate followed Yelena to try to stop her from killing Clint. The dynamic duo is back at it again. I’m so ready to see them in the future of the MCU. The camera shot for their fight was a great choice. I’m sure Yelena wasn’t trying to hurt Kate. She wanted Clint, but Kate was putting on a good fight. Yelena escaped down the building with a wire and missed getting a shot at Hawkeye. Kate tried going down the building via wire and succeeded. But she landed hard with a lot of force, like would she not break her legs??? Down on the ground, the bros came to fight Kate. She was handling them then Jack came to help her. Jack has come a long way like I actually started to like him. I’m sorry, Jack, for everything I said before.
Kazi and some other bros pulled up on Clint. It was an acceptable one on one then Clint used some gadgets to take care of the bros. He escaped by the window and landed in the big ole Christmas tree. Kate had only one idea to get him down from the tree, and it was to bring it down. Imagine the people looking at the tree in the morning, like dawg, why? The downside of living in Marvel’s New York; the constant destruction. Kate and Clint met up on the ice rink, and the two wore some very cool comic-inspiring outfits. In front of them were what seemed like thousands of bros. How did they get so many people to join their mafia? It was so badass to see all the trick arrows in action. The ice one? The man can literally lose his leg if he loses balance. The Pym one? Those guys are literally dead. Heroes really are killing people, so I don’t know if Ronin was so bad after all. Maya and Kazi battled it out, but I wasn’t so attached to them. Kazi’s death was meh to me. I’m still excited about Maya’s story being continued, though. Kate went to find her mother while Hawkeye fought Yelena. Eleanor tried leaving, but Fisk had other ideas. Dude ripped a door with ease, then an arrow was nothing, then a damn car hit him, and he was still good to go. Now let’s talk about how Kingpin was throwing Kate like a rag doll. I couldn’t believe she was surviving all that with minimum damage. I mean, she didn’t break her legs earlier, so she built different, huh? She was able to end the fight by activating all the trick arrows using Clint’s trick with Fisk’s lapel pin! That was actually pretty awesome.
Eleanor tried to reason with Kate, but she had to go. How could she still try to justify her doing when she killed a man? Arrest that woman. Yelena didn’t want to listen to Clint. It was heartbreaking to hear and watch. She just wanted Natasha back. The one thing that got me was that damn whistle. The whistle Yelena and Nat shared as kids. If I am honest, I be whistling like that throughout the day. Once again, Nat was a significant character in this episode. It’s like yeah she didn’t get a funeral, but her memory will live on in this series, which I feel is much better. Kingpin escaped, and Maya found him. She looked at him straight in his eyes and pulled a gun on him. Is he dead? Nooooo. We didn’t see it! But I’ll talk about that later. What a wild night, right? The pep talk Clint gave to Kate was deserving. With everything that happened in her personal life, she came out as the hero, like she always wanted. It’s Christmas day! Clint, Kate, and Lucky brought home gifts for the family. How sweet. The Rolex was, in fact, Laura’s, which confirmed she was an agent of SHIELD. Clint burned his Ronin suit, which I’m pretty sad about that because it is just so wonderful. Kate tried coming up with a superhero name, but they weren’t clicking until Clint had a good one. Hawkeye! No end credit scenes. There isn’t any, can you believe that? I mean, there is one, but it’s just so dumb. I don’t even want to discuss it. Anyways, that is the end of Hawkeye!
Final Thoughts
Overall, Hawkeye was one of the most consistent shows in the MCU so far. I really enjoyed it. I didn’t have high hopes because I wasn’t a big fan of the character in movies or comics. Do I like Hawkeye more now? Absolutely! Well, if you’re talking about Kate Bishop, yes! Clint is slightly higher than he was on my list. I loved Nat being a central character and Clint dealing with his past as Ronin. There was so much to unpack, so it was useful for the show. Again, Kate was entertaining throughout the series. I’m happy Hailee was cast as her. I can’t wait to see the future of Hawkeye. Hopefully, Clint stays retired. He needs it. Yelena added so much more to the show. She can make you like her when you shouldn’t. I think it’s just Florence, right? Let’s talk about Kingpin. I had a feeling when the episode ended that people wouldn’t like what they did with him. I was right. I even tweeted that they did him dirty, but for different reasons than others. People didn’t like him because they felt he wasn’t the same as he was in Daredevil. He actually is, though. I didn’t like what they did because it was too soon. The scene with Maya and Fisk happened in the comics. She does shoot him, and he temporarily becomes blind. I would have preferred if that happened in her series. He could’ve been developed more. The bond between them could have been explored more. Then they could’ve done what they did. He is still the same Kingpin from the Netflix show, according to Vincent D'Onofrio, but the Blip affected his empire. I’m excited to see more of him and Maya in the Echo series. Hopefully, Daredevil shows up! That’s it guys, Hawkeye is over, and we move on to the next show. Hope to see you there.
Hello there! I’m happy you took the time out of your day to read my post. Remember if you have any questions or want to have a discussion, leave a comment! My next newsletter will be about something Spider-man related. Not sure when, though. I have had a busy schedule at work, so it becomes harder to sit down a type a newsletter out. I hope to do it in two weeks or less. Stay tuned. Happy days and take care!
